A 116-acre golf course property in Windham sold for $1.1 million in January to a limited liability company whose principal is brother to the town’s mayor.
The Windham Club property at 134R, 184 and 185 Club Road was sold by KKC Property Co. LLC of Windham to 184 Club Road LLC. in a deal signed Jan. 12.
The buying LLC. is headed by Timothy DeVivo of Mansfield, according to state business records. DeVivo had also been president of nearby Willimantic Waste Paper Co., a recycling business operated with the aid of his brother, Thomas.
Thomas DeVivo has been mayor of Windham since 2020.
Willimantic Waste sold to Vermont-based Casella Waste Systems Inc. in July for an undisclosed sum.
In a release announcing the sale, Casella predicted the Willimantic operation will generate $62 million in annualized revenue.
Attempts to reach Timothy and Thomas DeVivo were not immediately successful. The Essex Golf Group brokered the sale.
The property, which started with an asking price of $2 million, includes a 11,546-square-foot clubhouse and a 4,000-square-foot maintenance building, as well as an 18-hole course. The listing noted recent renovations to the club, locker rooms and golf shop.
