The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) in East Hartford officially opened the Advanced Composites Technology Center in partnership with Pratt & Whitney, Goodwin University and the state.

The new center is housed at Goodwin's East Hartford campus, and will use cutting-edge aerospace manufacturing technology from Pratt, according to CCAT. The center will help to train workers in building aerospace components from composite materials.

“This is as vital to Connecticut as it gets: this is about technology, and it’s about Connecticut leading in technology," CCAT CEO Ron Angelo said.

The Advanced Composites Technology Center is an investment involving CCAT, Goodwin, Pratt and the State — which invested $5 million in the center.

Goodwin President Mark Scheinberg said the new center could help attract people from around the country who are interested in advanced engineering.

“They’ll all come here,” Scheinberg said. “Jobs in engineering are so attractive, and you have a lot of brilliant young minds coming together on this… technology center."
