April home sales up slightly in Greater Hartford

Stuart Miles, FreeDigitalPhotos.net Hartford-area home sales continued to rise last month.

Sales of single-family homes in the Greater Hartford region were up just slightly in April compared to the same month a year ago, when Connecticut had just entered partial lockdown due to COVID-19.

The Greater Hartford Association of Realtors said there were 519 closed sales during the recent month, up 1.4% from 512 sales in April 2020.

Pending sales, meanwhile, were up nearly 21% over the year, at 671 buyer offers accepted.

While sales growth was well below the double-digit jumps the market has seen during a number of the past 10 months, the median sale price remained elevated, up 17.9% at $303,000, compared with $257,000 a year prior.

So far for this year, closed sales are up 3.5% at 1,816 transactions and the median sales price is up 18.3% at $289,900.
