Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital has been selected among the best children’s hospitals in the United States for nine out of ten pediatric subspecialties in the 2019 “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings, published online this week by U.S. News & World Report.
Each ranked specialty rose in the ratings over 2018: YNHCH ranked in diabetes and endocrinology (No. 3); urology (No. 16); neonatology (No. 25); pulmonology (No. 26); neurology and neurosurgery (35); gastroenterology (37); cancer (42); nephrology (42); and cardiology and heart surgery (46).
“The growth of Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, continued expansion of our services, staff and resources and sustained national excellence in so many specialties is reflected in these rankings,” said Clifford Bogue, MD, physician-in-chief and chief medical officer at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital (YNHCH) and chair of pediatrics at the Yale School of Medicine, in a statement.
“We are honored to have so many of our specialties ranked among the best in the United States and fortunate that so many patients and families across our state and region benefit greatly from this expertise,” said Cynthia Sparer, senior vice president of operations at Yale New Haven Hospital and executive director for the children’s hospital and women’s services at YNHCH.
“Our growth, our nationally recognized quality and safety initiatives, and our commitment to recruiting and retaining top medical talent are vital to improving outcomes and providing the best possible care to children and their families,” Sparer added.
