Orange-based Avangrid announced Tuesday it would consolidate its onshore and offshore renewables businesses into a combined entity, Avangrid Renewables.
The former president of the onshore division, Jose Antonio Miranda, will serve as president and CEO of the consolidated business.
Avangrid CEO Pedro Azagra said, “Consolidation of the onshore and offshore businesses will allow AVANGRID to leverage human capital, supply chain synergies and project execution experience across Renewables.”
“With critical milestones for our offshore wind projects approaching, Miranda’s key experience in the wind turbine industry, and his successful asset optimization of Avangrid’s onshore wind business, ensures we have strong consolidated leadership,” Azagra said.
Avangrid Renewables is pursuing several offshore wind projects in the Northeast, including Park City Wind, which has an agreement to generate power for the Connecticut energy market. It is expected to be built off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard and managed from a site in Bridgeport.
In March, Massachusetts chose Avangrid's proposal for a 1,232 megawatt turbine farm — the largest proposed in New England to date — as part of the state’s competitive wind energy procurement process.
