Avelo Airlines announced it will begin offering nonstop service between New Haven and Knoxville, Tennessee starting today.

This new route, from Tweed-New Haven Airport to McGhee Tyson Airport, operates twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.

Tweed is the only Connecticut airport that offers nonstop service to Knoxville.

“This exclusive nonstop service makes exploring the abundance of vibrant urban and outdoor experiences Knoxville and The Great Smoky Mountains offer a fast and seamless journey for Connecticut visitors,” said Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy.

The flights are operated on Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, with introductory one-way fares starting at $77.

The new route is part of Avelo's recent expansion at Tweed. In February, Avelo announced that it was also adding nonstop flights to Atlanta, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina and Destin/Fort Walton Beach, Florida this spring.

With these additions, Avelo serves a total of 21 nonstop destinations from Tweed.
