Biotechnology startup Enrich Therapeutics, based in Groton and Worcester, Mass., has received a $1.7-million grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institute of Health, to work on developing its proprietary single cell isolation platform, the company announced on Aug. 17.
The Small Business Innovation Research Phase II grant will build on the first phase of an ongoing project, during which Enrich has already completed a prototype design for a non-fluidic technology intended to help isolate cells with the same phenotype.
Enrich's Worcester location is in the Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives incubator.
The SBIR Phase II grant will support efforts toward platform optimization and product development.
The company said in its announcement that bringing the technology to market could result in life science innovation for biomedical researchers around the world.
