The opening of Harbor Yard Amphitheater, which is being built to replace the old Stadium at Harbor Yard in downtown Bridgeport, will be delayed until May 2021 due to supply issues related to the coronavirus outbreak, it was announced last week.
The new entertainment facility was originally slated to open to the public this summer.
Jimmy Koplik, of Live Nation CT, went on radio station WPLR's Chaz and AJ show Thursday morning to announce the delay.
The supply issues include the purchasing of lighting equipment from Milan, Italy — the European nation most severely crippled by the international crisis — and roof fabrication from France, Koplik told the station.
The three shows announced thus far — Blackberry Smoke on July 28, Steve Miller Band on August 15, and Deftones on August 24 — have been relocated to alternate venues.
Blackberry Smoke and the Deftones are now scheduled to perform at Mohegan Sun on the same dates as their previously scheduled Bridgeport shows. Steve Miller Band will perform at the Oakdale in Wallingford on the same date as his previously scheduled Bridgeport show.
