The Hartford Athletic has named its third new head coach this year, who will take over the soccer team several months after a new CEO was hired.
Brendan Burke is the Athletic’s new general manager and head coach, replacing former Head Coach Omid Namazi, who left the club in November. Former Head Coach Tab Ramos left the organization in June.
Burke, of Massachusetts, will oversee all soccer operations, including player development, a youth academy and scouting.
The Athletic also said Ray Reid will take on a new role with the club as advisor to the CEO and ownership.
Burke has eight years of United Soccer League head coaching experience with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks and Philadelphia Union II, and had Major League Soccer assistant coaching stints in Houston and Philadelphia.
Terms of his contract, including salary, were not disclosed.
Athletic CEO Nick Sakiewicz, hired in September, said the organization has “a lot of work to do to deliver a team that will compete for the playoffs and championships, and there is no better coach for the job than Brendan.”
