JPMorgan Chase Bank, one of largest banks operating in Connecticut, has received local approvals to construct a new branch in Farmington.

Approved for a special permit by the town’s planning board in late October, the 3,568-square-foot facility -- developed by JDA Development of West Hartford -- will be located at 784 Farmington Ave. (Route 4), at the corner Backage Road.

Chase Bank spokesperson Briana Curran said Monday the bank is hoping the branch will be open near the end of 2021.

Besides the construction of the new building, the project also involves relocating an existing building at the site to make room for more parking.

Curran said the branch is part of Chase’s growth plan in Connecticut, where over the past few years it has planted a flag in downtown Hartford and is also building a Wethersfield branch.
