New Haven’s Department of Economic Development is responding to the global COVID-19 crisis this week with measures aimed at the city’s business community.

Throughout the day Wednesday, city economic development staff as well staff members from the Livable City Initiative will be canvassing neighborhood commercial districts with the information on COVID-19 and guidance for businesses large and small.

On Thursday, March 12, city public health officials will host a day-long series of “COVID-19 Planning and Preparation Webinars for Community Partner Organizations.”

The webinars include a 2 p.m. live session aimed at business owners, offering information on precautionary steps they may take as well as resources to help them navigate the coronavirus crisis.

Other webinar sessions to be offered Thursday offer advice and resources for homeless service providers (11 a.m.), parochial and charter schools as well as youth and after-school programs (11:45 a.m.), faith- and community-based service organizations (12:30 p.m.) and elderly services providers and nursing homes (1:15 p.m.)

Interested business people and others may participate in any of the Thursday webinars by following this link: https://bit.ly/2TXFUsj, during the appropriate time for the desired session.
