The long-awaited grand opening of The Pennant at North Crossing took place Thursday at 1212 Main St. in Hartford.
Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin and other area political leaders and stakeholders celebrated the occasion, which had been years in the making. The Pennant at North Crossing is a $50 million development of 270 luxury rental apartments and a 328-space parking garage, located in the shadow of Dunkin’ Donuts Park.
Bronin was joined at the ribbon cutting by The Pennant developer Randy Salvatore – founder and chief executive of Stamford-based RMS Companies.
The grand opening also marks the completion of the first phase of the North Crossing redevelopment project around Dunkin’ Donuts Park. That plan calls for the creation of about 1,000 apartments, rentals, and entertainment space. A minimum of 10% of those units will be set aside as affordable housing.
The Pennant – one of several projects Salvatore has completed in the tri-state area – offers a rooftop terrace, pool, cabanas, an amphitheater built into the property, a two-lane bowling alley; a golf simulator, a meditation room, and a working and fitness center.
The $120 million second phase of North Crossing calls for the construction of 532 rental units, a 541-space parking garage, and 10,000 square feet of retail space. Phase three could include a full-service grocery store near Hartford’s public safety complex.
