EFS taps Gresham as independent director

Essex Financial Services Inc. (EFS) has appointed Steve Gresham of Guilford to its board of directors as an independent director. Most recently, Gresham was executive vice president and head of the Private Client Group at Fidelity Investments, serving more than 9 million families with $1.6 trillion in assets. During his time at Fidelity the Private Client Group more than doubled in size. He joined Fidelity in October 2008 after seven years helping to lead the turnaround of the Phoenix Companies and its successful asset management spinoff, Virtus Investment Partners. 

Gresham has served as co-chair of the Private Client Services Committee for the Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), as director of the Money Management Institute, and as a founding director of the International Money Management Institute in London. He is a member of the Working Group on the Financial Abuse of Older People based at Cornell University, and co-authored a Presidential Symposium paper at the 2017 annual meeting of the International Association for Geriatrics and Gerontology. Gresham has authored more than 100 articles and five books about wealth management. He is a graduate of Brown University.

The law firm of Halloran Sage announced that Jennifer Pedevillano has been elected a partner. She is a member of the firm’s Construction, Labor & Employment, and Litigation Practice Groups. She handles construction matters, contract disputes, products liability matters, as well as complex commercial and corporate litigation matters. Pedevillano also represents employers in labor and employment law, including employer counseling, training, and the litigation of employment disputes, such as discrimination claims, unemployment compensation claims, and wrongful-termination claims. She earned her JD from Quinnipiac University School of Law and a BA from DeSales University.

Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Hartford has named Liz Bryden, LCSW chief operating officer. In this role, Bryden will coordinate, supervise and direct program operations in the tri-county (New Haven, Hartford and Litchfield) region. For the past 18 years, Bryden has worked at the Village for Families in Children, since 2016 as SVP. Before that she was chief operating officer at Walker Home and School in Needham, Mass. She earned an MSW from Rhode Island College and a BA in psychology from the University of Rochester.
