General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp. has secured a more than $150 million contract from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) for submarine-related work, according to information from the DoD.

The U.S. Navy, in a contract posted Friday, Feb. 23, awarded the Groton-based submarine maker a $150.9 million contract modification for long lead time material associated with four Virginia-class submarines: SSN 814; SSN 815; SSN 816; and SSN 817.

Only about 3% of the work for the order will be performed in Connecticut, according to contract details, with most being done elsewhere in the country. The contract is expected to be completed by September 2035.
