Family inventors from Wallingford and Shelton will be featured on the “Shark Tank Holiday Special” scheduled to air on Dec. 10, their publicist announced this week.
Mika’il and Aayan Naqvi of Shelton, making their second appearance on the show, will be asking the sharks to invest in their Ornament Anchor, a device that secures holiday decorations to Christmas trees.
The kids invented the anchor and are on track to donate $100,000 (10%) of their profits to a no-kill animal rescue organization. The Ornament Anchor is currently on sale on QVC and at major retailers including Target, Amazon and Bed Bath & Beyond.
The brothers had already achieved financial success with the product as of earlier this year — so much so the family was able to donate $20,000 to the North Shore Animal League in Port Washington, N.Y., from the profits.
Chris and Elisa Cirri of Wallingford came up with the idea for their product, Santa’s Enchanted Mailbox, in 2016. The automated toy looks like a mailbox and plays a song and chime when a letter is put inside.
“When the mailbox is reopened, their letter has MAGICALLY disappeared, whisked away to the North Pole. No postage required!” according to the announcement.
“Christmas is all about magic; with Santa’s Enchanted Mailbox there is no longer a reason for that magic to be left to the imagination,” the Cirri family said on their website.
The toy is available at santasenchantedmailbox.com for $49.99 and comes with four envelopes.
The 2020 “Shark Tank Holiday Special” featured products including Holiballs, giant inflatable ball ornaments, and Sled Dogs, ski-boot attachments that “ literally let you skate on snow.”
