From keeping seniors safe to putting superfoods on the menu, five Connecticut startups recently got a financial boost to get their businesses up and running.
CTNext, a quasi-public economic development agency, awarded $54,000 in grants at a ceremony May 4.
The Entrepreneur Innovation Awards (EIA) event was held at Parkville Market in Hartford, where 10 startup companies competed for cash prizes to get their businesses growing.
CTNext awarded the grants to the following startups:
Each company had to present their project ideas to a panel of judges for a chance to secure $10,000.
In addition to the grand prize, Lactation Consultants took home an additional $4,000 by winning the Fan Favorite and Judges’ Favorite awards.
CTNext Director Onyeka Obiocha lauded the startups. “The EIA continues to provide Connecticut’s most innovative entrepreneurs and startups the opportunity to showcase their ideas and secure funding that will propel their businesses forward,” said Obiocha. “We congratulate the five winning companies and look forward to continuing to support their progress and growth ambitions.”
CTNext was launched in 2016 to build a community of entrepreneurs and to accelerate startup growth by providing access to talent, space, industry expertise, services, skill development and capital to foster innovation and create jobs in Connecticut.
Since its inception, CTNext has grown to more than 2,220 members in its network.
