The most expensive home for sale in Connecticut is an 18,777-square-foot Gothic castle in Woodstock with a price tag of $60 million.

A list of the most expensive homes on the market in each state, compiled by the real estate search portal Point2, says the sprawling mansion at 450 Brickyard Road has 126-foot towers, nine bedrooms and 12 fireplaces.

It’s set on 175 acres and has a 30-acre pond. The interior contains 25 species of imported hardwoods from around the world, along with stained glass, according to the real estate listing.

Connecticut ranks seventh on the list. A $225 million, 16-bedroom home in Malibu, California with an underground tunnel is the most expensive residence for sale in the country, according to Point2.

New York, Florida, Nevada, Washington and Oregon had homes on the market with higher price tags than Connecticut. But Connecticut ousted Massachusetts (15th) and Rhode Island (30).

Nebraska’s most expensive home ranked last on the list, making it the most affordable at $3.75 million.

The Woodstock castle recently increased in price from $35 million. Amid a tight housing market, Point2’s research shows that luxury real estate sales have reached an all-time high over the last two years.

The property is owned by Christopher W. Mark, a descendant of steel tycoon Clayton Mark.

Mark’s youngest daughter, Christina, runs the castle’s TikTok page, which has 354,700 followers.
