Former Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) Commissioner Michelle Seagull has been tapped for the newly-created role of compliance officer for the Connecticut State Colleges & Universities (CSCU), effective Friday.
Seagull, CSCU said, will be responsible for establishing and implementing an organizational framework to coordinate the CSCU system’s compliance efforts to achieve efficiencies, reduce risk, and encourage ethical standards. Seagull will also support the development of training and education programs on relevant conflict of interest areas, CSCU announced.
CSCU oversees the state’s four public universities, community colleges and Charter Oak State College.
Seagull served as DCP commissioner from 2017 to 2023. Prior to that role, she was a DCP deputy commission and a partner at law firm Axinn, Veltrop & Harkrider LLP.
In addition, CSCU announced Natalie Wagner, the former executive director of the Connecticut Bar Foundation, recently started working as interim associate vice president for administration. In that role, Wagner, who is an attorney, will help in the supervision of labor relations, among other duties.
