GoNetspeed expands infrastructure in five area towns

Internet provider GoNetspeed announced Monday it is expanding construction of its high-speed “fiber-to-the premises” infrastructure in five more towns in the Greater New Haven region, including Branford, Cheshire, Naugatuck, Waterbury and Wolcott.

The New York-based company previously had announced construction in West Haven and the Woodmont section of Milford.

This latest infrastructure investment will cover over 369 miles and serve more than 50,000 homes and businesses, according to GoNetspeed.

GoNetspeed CEO Richard Clark said customers need high-speed, reliable Internet access. 

More people have been engaged in telecommuting, online learning and telemedicine, which require faster, better connections to work properly, the company noted. 

“We are happy to be expanding access not only in New Haven County, but in communities across Connecticut,” Clark said.

Construction is complete in West Haven, and service is expected to begin this month for the Woodmont section of Milford. 

Service in Branford, Cheshire and Naugatuck is anticipated to be available this summer, followed by the fall for Waterbury. The company indicated it plans to bring fiber internet to Wolcott “in the near future.”

GoNetspeed says it is currently investing in infrastructure in Fairfield, Hartford, and New Haven counties and continues to evaluate new areas for expansion.

GoNetspeed serves residential and business customers in Connecticut, Alabama, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont and West Virginia.

GoNetspeed announced in January 2021 that it had formed a partnership with Oak Hill Capital, an alliance which the company says is allowing it to accelerate the expansion of its network throughout the Northeast.
