Gov. Ned Lamont tests positive for COVID-19

Gov. Ned Lamont tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

In a statement, Max Reiss, the governor’s director of communications, said Lamont took two rapid self-tests Thursday morning, and both came back positive. He is now awaiting the results of a PCR test, which are considered the most accurate COVID-19 diagnostic tests available.

Lamont is “feeling good and not experiencing any symptoms,” Reiss said, but he still plans to quarantine at home for the next five days and will not attend any in-person events or meetings, in accordance with CDC guidance.

Officials said they are conducting contact tracing to identify and inform close contacts of the positive test results.

Lamont received his second vaccine booster shot just last week, according to the governor’s office.

Lamont is expected to take another PCR test in several days.
