The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has selected six organizations to participate in the second iteration of its Social Enterprise Accelerator, a two-and-a-half-year-long program designed to help nonprofits implement business plans, generate revenue and sustain and expand their operations.

In a statement, Hartford Foundation officials said the CT Data Collaborative, End Hunger CT!, Hartford Food System, Health Equity Solutions, Noah Webster House, West Hartford Historical Society and YWCA Hartford Region will take part in the 2021 accelerator program, giving the groups access to 30 months of training and coaching.

Each organization attended a series of learning sessions with social enterprise consulting firm No Margin, No Mission over the summer, after which they applied to join the development cohort.

The accelerator is administered by the Hartford Foundation’s Nonprofit Support Program.

“The Social Enterprise Accelerator has served as a platform for nonprofits to learn and take the evolutionary steps necessary to become thrivable, sustainable organizations with greater impact in our region,” said Melanie Tavares, the Hartford Foundation’s director of capacity building and nonprofit support. “The leadership, willingness, readiness, capacity and culture demonstrated by this cohort will facilitate their efforts to strengthen their entrepreneurial capacity through this exciting and intensive 30-month process.”

The Hartford Foundation launched its first Social Enterprise Accelerator in 2019, with 10 nonprofit organizations participating. To date, those groups have collectively generated over $2.5 million in revenue from their social enterprise projects, the foundation said.
