Hartford-based LAZ Parking is partnering with air transport infrastructure firm Skyports to develop vertiports for electric air taxis at LAZ facilities in Los Angeles.

Skyport designs and builds vertiports, which are dedicated sites that enable take-off, landing and recharging of electric aircraft. As part of the partnership between the two companies, Skyport and LAZ will develop vertiports to support passenger air taxi operations across Los Angeles, according to LAZ.

“Our partnership with LAZ enables us to leverage their extensive portfolio of facilities for vertiport development, creating value for LAZ customers, partners and communities," said Addison Ferrell, head of American operations for Skyports.

LAZ CEO Alan Lazowski last year told HBJ the company planned to place vertiports atop 150 LAZ garages for drones and small electric helicopters. At that time, the company was in talks with Vermont-based BETA Aviation.

Lazowski said the partnership with Skyports exemplifies LAZ's focus on leaning further into technology, and non-parking business opportunities.

“We are honored and excited to be partnering on the implementation of this cutting edge service with Skyports, a company as committed to innovation, sustainability and customer service as we are at LAZ," Lazowski said.
