It’s trying times like these that make you just want to scream.
For ice cream, of course.
Farmer’s Cow, the Bozrah-based mini-consortium of six family dairy farms, is responding to the COVID-19 crisis by introducing a new premium ice cream line called Naturally New England.
The new premium ice cream line is made with fresh milk and cream from local family-owned dairy farms. Recipes for each of the 12 flavors have been carefully crafted with what the company calls “old-fashioned values, wholesome ingredients,” and a traditional kettle-cooked method to be particularly creamy and flavorful.
Farmer’s Cow is a group of a half-dozen family dairy farms in Coventry, Hebron, Thompson, Franklin, Woodstock and Lebanon. In addition to ice cream and frozen yogurt, they produce milk (duh), half-and-half, eggs (free of artificial hormones, or rBST), coffee, cider and summer beverages.
“We’re excited to give Connecticut families a reason to smile,” said Jim Smith, managing member of the Farmer’s Cow group. “With people staying at home, ice cream is an old-fashioned, feel-good comfort food that families can enjoy together.”
The new line comes in a dozen flavors. In addition to Hay! Hay! Hay! Vanilla, these include Cow Barn Chocolate, Tractor Tracks, Heifer Nutter Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Spotted Cow Chocolate Chip, Summer Meadow Strawberry and Cow-Co-Nut Almond Bar.
Farmer’s Cow Naturally New England premium ice cream can be found at more than 550 locations in all six New England states. In Connecticut, it is available at all Walgreens stores and a growing number of independent markets, convenience stores, and food retailers.
The best part of Naturally New England ice cream? It comes in hefty 64-ounce containers — for sharing, of course.
Talk about comfort food...
