Waterbury Health, which includes Waterbury Hospital, and the Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN) announced this month they have joined a new network.

The two Connecticut health-care providers are now part of New York City-based Brighton Health Plan Solutions’ Create network.

The collaboration is expected to expand benefits options for employees, according to the organizations.

Create partners with health-care systems to offer employers integrated delivery networks for their self-funded health insurance plans. The goal is to reduce fragmentation of care and improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.

In addition to Waterbury Hospital, Waterbury Health includes Alliance Medical Group, Cardiology Associates of Greater Waterbury, VNA Health at Home, Greater Waterbury Imaging Center and Access Rehab Centers.

ECHN serves 19 towns in eastern Connecticut, and includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, Rockville General Hospital and more.

Waterbury Health President and CEO Lester P. Schindel said building quality, comprehensive and collaborative networks of health-care services is central to its mission.

“We look forward to working with the team at BHPS and their Create network to reach even more patients and provide the quality, affordable health care they need and deserve,” Schindel said in an announcement.

Self-insured employers can offer members the option to receive their medical care exclusively from Waterbury Health and ECHN’s community health care systems and affiliated providers. The service area for the network includes towns across eastern and western Connecticut, including care provided in New Haven, Hartford and Tolland counties.
