Hole in the Wall Gang to livestream gala Sept. 12

Celebrities including Bradley Cooper, Josh Groban, Phillipa Soo and Vanessa Williams are scheduled to perform this weekend as part of New Haven nonprofit the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp’s benefit gala, which will stream online.

The charity’s Fandango Benefit Gala livestreams for free at holeinthewallgang.org/manyhearts on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m., and features Hole in the Wall Gang campers performing musical numbers along with celebrity guests.

Arts and other nonprofits are increasingly turning to online fundraising events to reach donors during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Hole in the Wall Gang event combines three benefits: the Fandango gala along with its  annual Beantown Bash and Big Apple Bash. All proceeds go to the nonprofit’s programs, which offer free summer camps, family retreats and hospital programs to children in the Northeast with serious illnesses.

Actor Paul Newman started Hole in the Wall Gang in 1988. Camps are offered throughout the year at its facility in Ashford, Conn., and more than 20,000 seriously ill children and their family members take part in programs each year.

CEO James Canton said, “It is so heartening to see our founder’s tradition continue to be championed by so many kind friends who are helping carry the torch he left in our care.”

Located on Long Wharf Drive, Hole in the Wall Gang Fund had $121 million in assets as of its most recent tax forms, for fiscal year 2020.
