Hyperfine Inc., a Guilford-based company known for its portable MRI device, has named veteran medtech entrepreneur Scott Huennekens as executive chairman of its board.
Huennekens will work with the company’s leadership to prepare it for a public market offering, according to an announcement.
Huennekens’ leadership experience includes guiding companies through initial public offerings. He has been involved in more than 20 medtech startup, growth and public companies with market valuations totaling over $20 billion. He has held leadership roles at companies such as Actus Medical and Envista, Verb Surgical/Google, Volcano, NuVasive, ViewRay, EndoChoice, Digirad and Edwards Lifesciences.
In his new role, he will work closely with new Hyperfine President and CEO Dave Scott to continue building the company, including advancing the commercialization of its Swoop compact portable MRI system.
Founder Jonathan Rothberg, who will continue to serve on Hyperfine’s board, said Huennekens brings valuable new perspective to the board, given his past successes in launching new products and expanding clinical applications.
“These experiences will accelerate our trajectory,” Rothberg said.
Huennekens said he is “thrilled” to join the company’s board and advance its “game-changing portable MRI,” both in terms of its applications and global usage.
