InterCommunity CEO receives Charter Oak honorary degree

Kim Beauregard, CEO at InterCommunity, was awarded an honorary degree from Charter Oak State College at the school's recent commencement ceremony at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain. Beauregard, a Charter Oak alumna, received a Doctor of Humane Letters. Each year, the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education and Charter Oak honor an individual or individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the College and to local, national and/or international communities, and who have influenced advances within their own professional fields.

EPA hands out Environmental Merit Awards

Seven Connecticut organizations and individuals were recently honored among 28 recipients across New England at the 2013 Environmental Merit Awards ceremony of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Given out by EPA annually since 1970, the merit awards honor individuals and groups who have shown particular ingenuity and commitment in their efforts to protect the environment.

Connecticut winners included the: Northwest Conservation District in Torrington; Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust Inc. in Kent; Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection in Hartford; Siemon Company in Watertown; Russell L. Brenneman; Tessa Gutowski; and Marc J. Taylor.

Simon Konover associate earns scholarship

Michael Fleischmann, acquisitions and development associate at West Hartford-based real estate firm Simon Konover Development Corp., was recently awarded the John T. Riordan Professional Education Scholarship at the RECon Global Real Estate convention in Las Vegas. The scholarship was one of 15 awarded globally to real estate professionals displaying professional excellence, leadership ability and involvement within the industry. Through this scholarship, Fleischmann completed courses in development, design and construction at the John T. Riordan School for Professional Development in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Hebrew Health Care lauded as ‘Workforce Innovator’

Hebrew Health Care was recently honored with the Workforce Innovator Award, presented by the MetroHartford Alliance for Careers in Healthcare (MACH), which is made up of Capital Workforce Partners and the Connecticut Women's Education and Legal Fund. The award was given in recognition of Hebrew's positive contributions to Connecticut's healthcare workforce. Hebrew Health Care is comprised of several subsidiary units including The Hospital at Hebrew Health Care, Hoffman SummerWood Community, Hebrew Health Visiting Nurses, and Hebrew Health Hospice.
