Kaman appoints former Pratt & Whitney commercial engines president Lane to executive post

Photo | Contributed Aerospace products, such as Kaman Corp.’s K-MAX heavy-lift helicopters, have traditionally been among the state's top exports, but the COVID-19 pandemic greatly disrupted the sector.

Bloomfield aerospace manufacturer Kaman Corp. has appointed former Pratt & Whitney executive Carroll K. Lane as its new senior vice president and president of its air vehicles and precisions productions divisions.

Lane is taking over for Darlene Smith, who is retiring at the end of the year.

According to Kaman, Lane joins the company after leaving East Hartford-based jet-engine maker Pratt & Whitney, where he was president of commercial engines. In that role he led the development, management and aftermarket operations of Pratt’s portfolio of large commercial engines.

Kaman said that Lane spent almost a decade with United Technologies Corp., now Raytheon Technologies, where he served in positions of increasing responsibility including vice president of investor relations, vice president of Pratt’s commercial engines aftermarket organization and corporate strategy executive.

Before joining UTC, Lane worked as a director with Massachusetts-based aerospace and defense advisory firm CSP Associates.

Lane has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree from Williams College. He also served in the United States Marine Corps as a naval aviator, according to Kaman.
