Gov. Ned Lamont this week announced the nomination of Rob Simmelkjaer of Westport to chair the Connecticut Lottery Corp.’s board of directors, an unpaid group of 13 volunteer members. Simmelkjaer is the founder and CEO of Persona Media, a Norwalk-based interview and conversation-focused social media startup. Before that, he spent most of his career working as a sports media executive with NBC Sports and ESPN.
A graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School, Simmelkjaer practiced law in New York City before beginning his television career. He currently serves on the State Central Committee of the Connecticut Democratic Party, a position he says he will resign if confirmed by the legislature.

Bridgeport’s Discovery Museum has named Terry O’Connor interim executive director. He succeeds onetime Park City Mayor Bill Finch, who in May announced that he would step down at the conclusion of the museum’s fiscal year June 30. O’Connor spent 26 years as executive director of the Cardinal Shehan Center in Bridgeport, and before that was head coach of the Fairfield University men’s basketball team.
