L.L. Bean announces new Enfield location after planning to close New Haven store

Google The L.L. Bean store in New Haven will close in February, company officials said.

L.L. Bean is opening a new retail store at Brookside Plaza in Enfield this fall, as the company also announced plans to shutter its New Haven store next month.

The 25,000-square-foot Enfield space would be the second store location in Hartford County, set to open this fall, and one of four new L.L.Bean locations set to open this year throughout the U.S., according to the company.

L.L.Bean Public Affairs Manager Jason Sulham also said the New Haven location at The Shops at Yale will close on Feb. 11 as the company works to “evolve the size and concept of our stores to best serve customers going forward.”

“While it is difficult to close a location, we are undertaking the closure with great care for our employees and with the knowledge we can continue to serve Connecticut customers online at llbean.com and at retail stores in Danbury, South Windsor and soon in Enfield,” he said.

Brookside Plaza is located at the I-91 interchange near the intersection of Hazard and Phoenix avenues. Hiring for full- and part-time positions will start in mid-2024, the company said.

L.L. Bean was founded in 1912 in Freeport, Maine, and it sells men’s, women’s and kid’s active and casual apparel as well as outerwear, footwear, outdoor gear and home goods. The company reported an annual net revenue of $1.8 billion for fiscal year 2022.
