Macy's is bringing its chain of off-price stores to Farmington's Westfarms mall.

The national retailer on Wednesday said Macy's Backstage will debut Saturday in first level space inside Macy's existing full-line store at Westfarms.

Macy’s says the 16,000-square-foot Backstage store at Westfarms will offer a variety of new and established brands in apparel for men, women and children. It will also sell toys, housewares, home office supplies, home textiles, cosmetics, home decor, designer handbags, pet accessories and personal protective equipment (PPE), among other items.

The new Westfarms store is part of Macy's larger expansion of its Backstage brand.

On Saturday, Macy's Backstage is also debuting within 10 other full-line Macy's stores in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Texas and California.

Macy's, which plans to close more than 100 stores in the next three years, including in Meriden, currently operates Backstage locations at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills in Manchester; Waterbury's Brass Mill Center; Milford's Connecticut Post shopping center; Danbury Fair; and Stamford Town Center.

"Backstage stores focus on value and newness, guaranteeing that shoppers will find an amazingly-priced assortment of recognizable brands and trends each visit," said Michelle Israel, Macy’s senior vice president of off-price.

The addition of Backstage is welcome news for Westfarms, which recently learned that luxury department store retailer Lord & Taylor will be liquidating its store there.
