Marcum LLP, an accounting firm with offices in New Haven, completed its merger with New York-based Friedman LLP on Sept. 1 and expanded its footprint to 46 offices worldwide.
The new firm, called Marcum, now operates in 38 U.S. locations, along with offices in China, Singapore, Ireland and Grand Cayman.
The merger puts New York City-based Marcum in the top 12 of global accounting and advisory firms, with about $1 billion in annual revenue and more than 3,500 employees.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Two of Friedman’s specialty businesses, cybersecurity company CyZen and Friedman’s China practice, will be integrated into the merged firm. Friedman’s China practice joins Marcum Asia, bringing 75 specialists to Marcum’s affiliate serving Asian public companies listed in U.S. markets.
Friedman brings 850 partners and associates to the merger, and its co-managing partners, Frederick R. Berk and Harriet Greenberg, have joined Marcum as partners. Berk joins Marcum’s executive committee and becomes co-leader of the Marcum real estate group.
Marcum Chairman and CEO Jeffrey M. Weiner said, “Friedman and Marcum see tremendous opportunities in this partnership for both our clients and our people. Fred and Harriet built an outstanding organization, and we welcome them and the entire Friedman team to Marcum.”
Marcum has Connecticut offices in New Haven, Hartford, West Hartford and Greenwich.
