A Colorado company that provides non-emergency medical transportation is closing its North Haven operations center and laying off 59 workers.
ModivCare Solutions LLC (formerly Logisticare Solutions LLC), disclosed the layoffs in a notice Friday to the state Department of Labor.
The notification was filed under the federal WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Act, which requires employers with more than 100 workers to give advance notice of layoffs affecting 50 or more at a single site.
ModivCare told state labor officials it decided to close the operation because its lease at 127 Washington Ave. is expiring.
The layoffs, which include call center employees, training and support personnel, and a field services technician, are effective June 1.
The company said affected employees have been notified of the closing, and it will reach out to them in a separate communication with information about available benefits.
ModivCare Solutions is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Denver-based ModivCare Inc., which until January was known as the Providence Service Corp. The company bills itself as the nation’s largest provider of non-emergency medical transportation.
