Meriden hotel, eyed for apartment redevelopment, sells for $5.6M

A former hotel site in Meriden that has been eyed for an apartment redevelopment has sold for $5.6 million, city records show.

The 150-room Baymont by Wyndham hotel property at 275 Research Parkway sold in late August.

The buyer was New Haven developer Adam Haston, who earlier this year proposed a plan to redevelop the hotel into mostly micro-studio and one-bedroom apartments targeted at white-collar young professionals, according to the Record-Journal.

The project would include 40,000 square feet of common-use amenities.

The project’s status is unclear. Meriden town officials didn’t return repeated requests for comment.

The Savings Bank of Danbury helped finance the purchase, city land records show.

The seller was GIRI Meriden LLC, which is controlled by Ashish Sangani, who has a Quincy, Mass., business address, state records show.

The hotel formerly held a Sheraton flag. It is no longer listed on the Baymont by Wyndham website.

New Haven strip center, anchored by medical marijuana retailer, sells for $2.3M

A New Haven strip mall on Whalley Avenue has traded hands for $2.3 million, city land records show.

The 10,534-square-foot property at 1351 Whalley Ave., sold in late August, land records show. It's anchored by medical marijuna dispensary Affinity Health & Wellness, which opened there in 2019.

The buyer was YBS Whalley LLC, which is controlled by Jack Yeung, who lists a business address in Southbury, state records show.

The seller was 1351 Whalley Ave LLC, which is controlled by Thomas C. Kelleher. He lists a North Haven business address, state records show.

The property was built in 2003, sits on 0.87 acres and has 45 surface parking spaces, according to CoStar.

The property previously was home to a Tommy’s Tanning salon, but that location is no longer open, according to the company’s website.

New Haven office building sells for $800K

A New Haven office building has sold for $800,000, city land records show.

The 8,142-square-foot property at 84 Norton St. traded hands on July 30.

The buyer was Continuum Management Corp., which is controlled by Patti Walker, who is the president and CEO of Continuum of Care Inc., a nonprofit mental healthcare provider.

The seller was Hartford-based real estate development firm CIL Realty Inc., records show.

The property sits on 0.38 acres, was built in 1900 and has six surface parking spaces, according to CoStar.

Nonprofit Community Solutions Inc. signed a lease in the property in Sept. 2019, but terminated its lease there in July 2021, land records show.

Old Saybrook retail/office building sells for $3M

A recently renovated office/retail building on Main Street in Old Saybrook has sold for $3 million, town records show.

The 7,302-square-foot Old Saybrook Center at 15-19 Main St. sold on Aug. 13, town records show. Property tenants include Berkshire Hathaway, Ben & Jerry's and Starbucks.

The buyer was 231ST SRS LLC, which is controlled by Steven Straus, who has a Yonkers, New York business address, state records show.

The seller was DCR1519 Main LLC, which is controlled by Daniel C. Richman of Pleasantville, New York, state records show.

The property was built in 1940 but was renovated in 2016, according to CoStar. It sits on 0.21 acres and has 24 surface parking spaces.
