South Carolina packaging firm Novolex acquired Flexo Converters USA, a Meriden-based manufacturer of stock, custom and recycled paper bags, the company announced Friday.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Flexo’s products will now be sold under the Novolex Duro Bag brand.

Novolex is owned by private equity giant The Carlyle Group, which bought a majority stake in 2016. Novolex operates 55 manufacturing facilities in North America and Europe and employs 10,000 people.

Flexo, which sells its products to restaurants and food-service distributors, reported sales growth in 2020, according to a company statement.

Founded in 1994, Flexo operates a manufacturing facility in Meriden along with a plant in Monroe, Ga.
