Grassroots Cannabis is entering the Connecticut market with a new marijuana dispensary set to open in Groton on Thursday.
Chicago-based GR Companies Inc., doing business as Grassroots Cannabis, grows, processes and sells cannabis products around the country. Its retail brand, Herbology, aims to provide customers with centers that focus on wellness and education.
Its new Herbology dispensary is a 5,047-square-foot facility at 79 Gold Star Highway.
Chief Operating Officer Matt Darin said the company is “excited to launch” its presence in Connecticut with this new location.
The space includes one waiting room, a consultation room and four point-of-sale stations, which include measures to allow for social distancing.
Herbology locations aim to have a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The decor has an herb-focused aesthetic that includes natural wood, glass and greenery.
The company sells an array of products, including flowers, vapes, extracts, oils, topicals, concentrates and edibles. It also offers educational events, seminars and support groups.
Talley Wettlaufer, vice president and head of retail, said in addition to selling products, the company is committed to educating patients on the benefits of cannabis.
Hours of operation are Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Grassroots Cannabis has facilities in Illinois, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maryland, Oklahoma, Ohio, Vermont, North Dakota, Arkansas and Connecticut, and the company indicated it is continuing to expand.
