Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin and other civic leaders announced on Wednesday a new celebration of Hartford’s food, music and cultural diversity with the inaugural “Hartford Taste” festival downtown on Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11.

The event is expected to draw thousands to Constitution Plaza to enjoy food, activities, goods from local vendors and entertainment on two stages. The event will support local restaurants while celebrating Hartford’s food, music, businesses and cultural diversity.

The event will help support regional hunger-fighting organization Connecticut Foodshare. Support from The Hartford and the Hartford Chamber of Commerce will allow area restaurants to participate free of charge.

"We have amazing restaurants throughout the city, not just in the downtown but throughout our neighborhoods," Bronin said during a press conference. "And this is a chance to celebrate those restaurants, to celebrate the incredible cuisine that we have here in Hartford, to do it all in one place, to do it here on Constitution Plaza..."
