New infusion therapy center opens in Rocky Hill

An infusion therapy company with five locations in Maine and New Hampshire has opened its first center in Connecticut.

Nashville, Tennessee-based Local Infusion, a technology-driven provider of infusion therapy for patients with chronic autoimmune diseases, has opened its sixth New England center at 111 Cromwell Ave., Suite 301, in Rocky Hill.

The Rocky Hill center is open Monday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. by appointment only.

Local Infusion Rocky Hill was built to meet the growing demand for world-class infusion care by patients and employers in Greater Hartford, the company said in a news release. 

According to its website, the clinic offers a “wide range of high-quality pharmaceuticals from U.S.-based companies” to treat nearly 40 conditions that include allergy & immunology, asthma, Chrohn’s disease, gout, inflammatory bowel disease (IDB), multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid eye disease and ulcerative colitis.

It offers private suites, a dedicated infusion guide to assist patients with scheduling and financial guidance, flexible hours, convenient parking, and other amenities, the company said. Care is provided by on-site nurse practitioners and RNs.

New patients may be referred by their physician, or can fill out a form on the clinic’s website and a staff member will contact them.

Co-Founder Ashley Knapp said the expansion into Connecticut represents a milestone for the company. 

“Local infusion is committed to simplifying the complexities of chronic condition care in collaboration with the patient’s care team, ensuring our patients can focus solely on their health and get back to their daily lives,” Knapp said.

The company said its centers accept coverage from the following health insurances: Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, Harvard Pilgrim, Humana, Medicare, United Healthcare, Community Health Options and Martin's Point Health Care. 

In addition to the Rocky Hill center, the company plans to open additional locations in Connecticut within the next year, including one at 1455 Whalley Ave. in New Haven. 

Since opening its first New England location in Concord, New Hampshire, in January 2023, Local Infusion has expanded quickly. It opened a second location, in Bedford, New Hampshire, in March 2023, followed by three locations in Maine — in Augusta (May 2023), South Portland (August 2023) and Bangor (February 2024). 

In November, the company raised $10 million in a Series A funding round. At the time, it stated it would use the money to expand its footprint in the Northeast, with additional centers in Connecticut, New Jersey and Maryland, and to invest in its proprietary referral and care condition technologies.

The company has said it is an infusion therapy provider for over 220 physicians in the Northeast, and partners with employers covering more than 1.3 million people. It also works with primary care groups to coordinate care.
