Radiall, a manufacturer of electronic cables and fiber-optic connectors, unveiled its new Wallingford facility Tuesday.
The international business, which is based in France, previously had a facility on John Murphy Drive in New Haven, but decided the space didn’t suit its needs.
Patrice Rigoland, general manager for Radiall USA, said the company packed, moved and unpacked in five days.
“We are excited to be here celebrating the opening of this new Wallingford site,” Rigoland told a crowd of employees and local dignitaries at a ribbon cutting and celebration Tuesday morning. “This project started two years ago, when we decided the location in New Haven no longer served our purpose.”
The company began searching for a smaller alternative, and ultimately settled on the 33,000-square-foot building at 777 Northrup Road, Wallingford, which is close to I-91. The company signed a lease in April and finished renovations last week, he said.
“We are very proud of the result and excited about the future of Radiall in Connecticut,” Rigoland said.
Pierre Gattaz, company president, came from Paris for the occasion. His father and uncle started the company, which has grown to 3,500 employees around the world.
“We are very happy to see this beautiful building,” Gattaz said.
Garrett Sheehan, president and CEO of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce, congratulated the company on its new location.
“Radiall has been a great partner to the chamber,” Sheehan said in welcoming remarks Tuesday morning. “We understand you needed a new location. Having you stay in the region and invest in Connecticut means so much to us.”
The company’s products are used in various industries, including aerospace, defense, industrial, medical, space and telecommunications.
