Attorney sworn in as city deputy corporation counsel

A long-time advocate for individuals with disabilities, Michelle Duprey was sworn in recently as New Haven’s deputy corporation counsel.

Duprey, a lawyer, was first hired to work in City Hall in 1998. She served as city director of the Department of Services for Persons with Disabilities for two decades. In that position, she regularly advised the city on compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

“Even though I will no longer be the public voice for the disability community, I feel being given this exciting opportunity demonstrates that those with disabilities can serve in all kinds of jobs in our community, not just those you would normally expect,” Duprey said. “This appointment speaks volumes to the broader community on diversity and inclusion without me having to say a word. And for that, I am grateful.”
