Shelton tech company inks major medical imaging pact

Sectra Inc., a Swedish company with U.S. headquarters in Shelton, said it has signed a contract to provide medical imaging information technology to one of the nation’s largest health care systems.

Sectra Inc. said it will install its enterprise imaging picture archive and communication system (PACS) in facilities operated by South Dakota-based Sanford Health.

Billed as the largest rural, non-profit health care system in the country, Sanford operates 400 hospitals and 300 clinics in nine states, primarily in the Upper Midwest, as well as in China, Germany, Ghana and Canada.

Sectra said its platform offers consistency throughout the health system, reduces information technology complexity and allows Sanford’s providers to share information and images through a “universal viewer.”

“It is important for us to unify our imaging IT solutions across our broad footprint of patient care,” Sanford Health Chief Medical Officer Allison Suttle said in a statement.

Sectra said the five-year agreement encompasses breast imaging, orthopedics and 3D vessel analysis/lesion tracking, as well as teaching file software and a business analytics package. Terms were not disclosed.

Sectra describes itself as a leading global provider of imaging IT solutions that support health care in achieving patient-centric care.
