Shipman & Goodwin Managing Partner Leander Dolphin has been appointed by Gov. Ned Lamont to serve on the 12-member Connecticut Judicial Selection Commission, a body she will lead as chairperson.

At its Sept. 29 meeting, commission members voted to have Dolphin serve as the panel’s new chairperson. Dolphin replaces Charles Tiernan III in that role.

The group is composed of six attorneys and six non-attorneys who each serve three-year terms. The members are responsible for seeking out and recommending candidates for nomination as judges to the Superior Court, Appellate Court, and Supreme Court to the governor.

In a statement, Lamont said: “Leander’s background in private practice, including her years of counsel to educational institutions and organizations that foster the development of children, make her more than qualified to serve on this commission.”

Dolphin began her legal career in 2004 and has led Shipman & Goodwin’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. Prior to joining Shipman, Dolphin was a former vice president of human resources and general counsel for the Girl Scouts of Connecticut. Dolphin graduated from Wesleyan University in 1999 with high honors and received her law degree from Howard University School of Law in 2004.
