A buyer from Waterbury has purchased the former Shamrock Pub & Grill property in Waterbury with plans for opening a restaurant.
“It was a sound investment to see if we can do a restaurant,” said Juan Maposito, of Waterbury.
Maposito is principal of 210 Meadow LLC, the entity that paid $310,000 for the 5,596-square-foot building on one-fifth of an acre at 210 Meadow St. Maposito said he is still contemplating what type of restaurant. It could be a diner, but he is strongly considering Mexican.
The location had offered Southwestern food and ambiance years ago as the Crossroads Cantina, before being transformed into the Shamrock, which closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“COVID wiped it out,” said Brian Godin, who helped broker the deal. “This new group is going to reinvent it and put everything back in there.”
The roughly 112-year-old building has been largely stripped of furnishings and kitchen equipment before its sale. It sits on the edge of Waterbury’s downtown core, with easy access to Interstate 84 and Route 8.
Maposito’s limited liability company purchased the property from the estate of Tamara C. Zappone in a deal logged by the city on Sept. 12.
Brian Godin and Michael Grieder of Godin Property Brokers represented the seller. Mary Buckley, another Godin agent, represented the buyer.
