Six Connecticut professional membership associations are joining forces to create a new professional-development initiative, the Connecticut Professionals’ Leadership Academy.
The new initiative is designed to function as a primary resource for emerging leaders by strengthening leadership skills, building relationships, cultivating talent and creating a collaborative community across several professions for the next generation of Connecticut’s business leaders.
The groups joining forces are: the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA), the Connecticut chapter of the American Institute of Architects (CTAIA), the Connecticut Young Insurance Professionals, the Connecticut Bar Association, the Hartford County Bar Association and the CFA Society Hartford.
This six-month program is intended to train interdisciplinary leaders to help develop and improve their professions, their professional association groups, their companies and their personal career prospects. Organizers encourage early- to mid-career professionals who are members of the sponsoring organizations and seeking leadership training to propel them to the next level of their careers to apply for the program.
According to a statement by Connecticut Society of CPAs Executive Director Bonnie Stewart: “This program will provide our leaders of tomorrow with the leadership skill set they need today. Every day, the members of the professions work more closely with one another as the landscape of mutual client service draws us together.”
Added Connecticut Bar Association Business Law Section Vice Chair Ken Larman: “The opportunities to foster cross-professional leadership contacts and knowledge through the Connecticut Professionals’ Leadership Academy may be unmeasurable. It’s exciting that young attorneys, accountants, architects, financial analysts and insurance professionals are brought together for leadership training to draw on their varying perspectives.
Tuition is $500, which includes seven sessions and a graduation ceremony comprising 23 continuing professional education credits overall. Applications will close this Thursday, Oct. 31, at midnight.
The seven class sessions take place from January through June. The first, “Lean Principles & Practices Team-Building Workshop,” takes place 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14.
