Stanley Black & Decker’s Silicon Valley-based innovation group has a new leader

Contributed Michelle Bockman was recently named president of STANLEY X.

New Britain toolmaker Stanley Black & Decker said Wednesday its Silicon Valley-based innovation division recently named Michelle Bockman as president.

STANLEY X is a division of Stanley focused on creating in-house innovations to address modern challenges in construction, workforce and engineering.

According to Stanley, Bockman came to the company with more than 20 years of engineering and manufacturing industry experience. She previously served as the CEO of 3D Control Systems, an advanced manufacturing software solutions provider. 

Prior to that she held leadership positions at GE Healthcare and Industrial Solutions, GE Digital, HP Inc. and several startups. Bockman earned her bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

In her new role, Bockman will lead efforts to “identify and build new sources of growth and innovation in key areas of Stanley Black & Decker, including internal startup incubation, ecosystem development and company partnerships,” the company said.
