Surgeon Researcher, a company that helps patients track down the right surgeon, has expanded its reach to New Haven.
Founder Dan Raymond said Surgeon Researcher is different from other online surgeon reviews and ratings websites.
According to Raymond, the company speaks with medical professionals who have observed surgeries performed by the surgeons who are being reviewed. Doing this provides patients with a more accurate and reliable assessment of a surgeon's capabilities than websites that compile anonymous ratings and accept advertising money from surgeons, Raymond said.
“We're excited to launch in Connecticut, and provide patients with an expert, independent, unbiased resource to help them find the right surgeon,” Raymond said. “Studies, and our experience, show that patients who are operated on by the most skilled surgeons have lower rates of revision surgery, complications, infection, pain and opioid use.”
The Stamford-based business was able to bring 12 additional contractors onboard to expand its customer service area to New Haven.
There are various evaluation reports customers can choose from, starting at $250. The reports provide patients with research on a variety of surgical specialties, such as orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery and plastic surgery.
