Gov. Ned Lamont on Sunday aired reopening guidelines for restaurants, museums, gyms, hotels, amusement parks, movie theaters and other businesses as the state continues to ease COVID-19 restrictions on June 17.

Many of the sector-specific rules for reopening continue to require that businesses enforce and implement limited seating capacity, social distancing, signage, staggered shifts, and increased ventilation and sanitation protocols, among other guidelines. The first phase of Lamont’s plan allowed outdoor dining service, retail stores, offices, and outdoor museums and zoos to reopen.

The phase two reopening rules came after Lamont announced Friday that Connecticut restaurants, gyms and movie theaters would be allowed to serve customers indoors three days earlier than originally planned on June 17. The governor said he moved up the reopening date from June 20 "to avoid having Phase 2 of Connecticut's reopening efforts take effect during a busy Father's Day weekend."

The second phase rules were developed by Lamont and his staff, the Department of Economic and Community Development, in consultation with legislators and recommendations made by the Reopen Connecticut Advisory Group.
