New Haven Restaurant Week starts Sunday, Oct. 3, and runs for two weeks, through Saturday, Oct. 16.

The event is an opportunity to help not only area restaurants — an industry which has been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but also Connecticut Foodshare, an anti-hunger organization.

This year, 24 local restaurants are participating, and they will offer prix-fixe menus for lunch and dinner. Diners can get a two-course lunch for $21, or a three-course dinner for $42 per person. Reservations are recommended.

Bruno Baggetta, interim director for Market New Haven, Inc., said the annual event has served as an “opportunity to celebrate the city’s diverse and impressive culinary offerings” for 13 years.

“Diners can rest assured protocols are in place at all participating restaurants to keep health and safety front-of-mind, while ensuring that the promotion is a fantastic experience for every guest,” Baggetta said.

This year’s event, presented by Citizens, has some new participants, including Claire’s Corner Copia, Zaroka Bar & Grill, and two recently opened restaurants — The Dining Room and Villa Lulu.

Lisa Maass, president of Citizens Connecticut, said the event highlights many of New Haven’s “incredible restaurants” while boosting the local economy.
