With retailers and restaurants particularly hard-hit by the coronavirus pandemic, the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce has launched two new Facebook pages to help them bring in business during the crisis.
The page “ValleyCT Eats” highlights Valley area restaurants’ specials and messages to the community, while “Buy ValleyCT” puts the spotlight on the region’s stores and other businesses.
On ValleyCT Eats, hungry customers can browse and learn about offerings and specials. It also presents an opportunity to chat with “other local foodies,” according to the chamber. Restaurants are invited to share their upcoming specials and market their culinary delights.
Several area restaurants have taken advantage of the page since it launched, including by advertising their Mother’s Day takeout menus for what is traditionally one of the busiest dining weekends of the year.
The page also features quizzes and polls, including which restaurant you’d choose if you won a chance to eat takeout for free for a year.
The Buy ValleyCT Facebook page was created to help support the region’s merchants, from the fitness centers to the jewelers to the manufacturers. Businesses are invited to share information about their products and services on this page.
So far, local photography, self-storage, kitchen and bath remodelling, and a wood floral designer are among the businesses using the new page in hopes of drumming up business.
The Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce represents the business community of Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Oxford, Seymour, Shelton and the surrounding area.
