The upcoming 2019 Yale Innovation Summit will spotlight entrepreneurial Yale faculty and students and the investable innovations coming out of Yale labs.
Sponsored by the Yale Office of Cooperative Research, the annual event takes place Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Yale School of Management, 165 Whitney Ave.
Some 60 venture capital firms are expected to be on hand to get an up-close-and-personal look at some 100 investable Yale entrepreneurial projects. Some 1,000 attendees are expected, according to OCR.
Highlights of the event include a Biotech Track, aimed at those interested in commercializing ideas for drug discovery and biological therapeutics, and a Tech Track, for those interested in commercializing ideas from physical and computer sciences, engineering, software and services.
Keynote speakers include Annie Lamont, co-founder and managing partner of Oak Healthcare and Fintech in Greenwich (8 a.m.); Sean Harper, MD, managing director of California-based Westlake Village BioPartners (12:30 p.m.); and Kate Bingham, managing partner for biotechnology of Boston-based SV Health Managers (4 p.m.). Bingham will discuss approaches to tackling the world’s health challenges.
In addition to panel sessions on biotechnology, technology and Connecticut Innovations, the event will feature a 1:30 p.m. pitch contest during which technology and biotech innovators will pitch their ideas to prospective investors, with real dollars at stake.
At 4 p.m. award-winners will be revealed, along with winners of the 2019 Blavatnik Awards.
Begun in 2016 with a $10 million grant from the family of philanthropist Len Blavatnik, the Blavatnik Fund for Innovation awards fellowships to developers of new drugs and other medical technologies.
General admission to the day-long summit is $250 for non-Yale affiliates. Visit yaleinnovationsummit.com to learn more, and click here to register.
